Acoustics In A Box™ Basic Installation Instructions |
||
Acoustics In A Box™ sound absorbing panels work so much better than ordinary panels, in part because of the specific patented materials and construction methods used in their manufacture, but just as importantly, they work so well because of the patented Black Hole™ mounting system. The mounting "boxes" are shipped flat and must be carefully folded into their final completed shapes for proper results to be obtained. Please carefully follow the procedure, in the order presented below, to make sure your Acoustics In A Box™ system performs to its specifications. |

Lay the unfolded mount flat on a table or floor as shown, with the narrow end toward you. | Fold the two long sides up 90 degrees, to vertical. | Now fold the two narrow end tabs near you 90 degrees inward.(The tabs are under the thumbs in the picture above.) |

Next, fold the end of the mount up 90 degrees, and then over the narrow end tabs and lock the small tabs on the end piece into the slots provided in the back of the mount. | Now reverse the mount and fold the two tabs inward as you did with the first end. | Next, fold over the end just as you did with the first end, and lock the small tabs into the slots in the back of the mount. |

With both ends folded over their respective tabs and locked into place, push the two remaining tabs outward 90 degrees. These tabs will lock into slots on the back of the panel to orient the panel at the proper angle and provide all of the necessary support for the panel. | The completed Black Hole™ mount is now ready to be attached to the wall, using ordinary drywall screws with the washers provided, or by using suitable adhesive strips. If using adhesive strips, be sure they will not damage your walls, and that they are rated to support 7 pounds or more. Each 2' x 4' panel with its mount weighs just under 7 pounds. | For normal downsloping panel installations, the thick part of the mount should be up and the two support tabs should be at the bottom of the mount. |
Before you begin attaching any mounts to the wall, first, "dry fit" a panel with a mount attached. Attach a panel onto a mount and move it to its horizontal location, then move it vertically so that the bottom is 6-7 feet above the floor. If you do not have a high enough ceiling to accommodate that high an installation, move it vertically so that you have 2-12 inches between the top of the panel and the ceiling. The specific position relative to the ceiling is primarily an aesthetic matter, so suit yourself. Just do not put it closer to the ceiling than 2 inches, because after the mount is fastened to the wall, the panel must be raised at least one inch to then drop down over the support tabs. Now holding the panel and its mount in its final location mark the location of the mount on the wall, using a pencil or other non-maring marker. Now, based on your installation plan, mark the locations of the remaining panel mounts around the room. Before you begin fastening the mounts to the wall, it is a good idea to double check your placement by having a helper hold up a second panel with its mount attached and located at the point where you have marked, side by side with the first test panel. Check as many other locations as you wish, until you are satisfied the installation is going to be as you intended. By using a laser or mechanical level, make sure all the mounts are vertically plumbed as well as spaced properly, then attach them to the walls. This will make sure your final installation is attractive as well as functional. Now simply hang each panel onto its mount, insuring the support tabs are properly seated in the slots on the back of each panel. The panels should snug down firmly and level. All done. Now listen to how amazingly different and distinctive your room looks and sounds and enjoy this new experience in audio excellence.
